The end of the Clans

It was a dark and stormy night. No, it wasn’t. But I didn’t get any sleep because I couldn’t put Cold Secrets down. Julius is my new favorite leading man and if I could find his house, I would buy it. Excellent plot as always, delightful descriptions and scenes. I was totally immersed and didn't get a wink of sleep until The End.

Did Julius Haddock get a bit of a step up because he was the former chief of police and his son is the current chief? You'll have to read the story to find out.
I definitely recommend this book and I will be looking for other books by Mr. Bartlett to check out.

This is a great murder mystery. Julius Haddock the former chief of police in Little Penwick, Rhode Island who has just received a PI license and has nothing else to do in his retirement decides to investigate a 30 year old murder mystery. There are lots of quirky characters and many surprises. This is a thoroughly enjoyable murder mystery.

Julius is out of jail and a PI. This is a very riveting story which kept my attention so that I couldn’t put it down once I started it. The characters were interesting and the story engrossing.

An excellent mystery. Put in jail by a corrupt A.G., Julius doesn't forget. He hasn't lost his skills as a cop. He digs into an old cold case and shows everyone just how hard but eventually satisfying the work can be.
If you like to watch cops work and be successful, definitely give this one a read.

This is a great story about a cold case that had no clues but with great detective work was connected to other cases that were also unsolved. I really enjoyed this story and found that I wasn't sure if it would be solved to the very end. I look forward to more in this series from this author.

Excellent introduction for me to Gus Haddock. A level-headed investigator, who is enjoyable to follow.

This was a very good detective / mystery book. Because of the location, it reminded me a little of the "Trouble in Paradise" series by Robert Parker. The protagonist ("Gus" the new police chief) was a well-developed character, sort of in the mold of Travis McGee and Jesse Stone. I am now buying the 2nd book of the series and I hope for this to be a series that I can enjoy for some time.
